The IMPERVIUS modular wood frame, copper-wrapped RF Shielding System is by far the most sought-after shielding solution for many reasons. Over 70% of all MRI sites are shielded with a modular copper panel shielding system. All components required for the RF shield are provided and installed by NELCO Worldwide, including RF door, RF window, RF filters & waveguides. Site-specific magnetic shielding and MRI-specific equipment interfaces are also installed by NELCO Worldwide.
MRI Copper Panel System

Fire-retardant wood frame, wrapped with high-quality copper, offers walls that are self-supporting and lightweight ceiling panels (2.4 lb/ft2) which reduce the load on parent ceiling structures.

Modular panels are mechanically bolted into place and are easily disassembled for magnet delivery into the RF shield and close up.

Copper shielding material is the best shielding material to resist galvanic corrosion, providing longevity exceeding the life of the MRI equipment.

Lightweight, modular bolted-panel design allows for fast installation and lends itself to support the constructibility of most architectural room designs.

RF attenuation exceeds the requirements of all MRI vendors.

Interface to the RF shield with all other trades is simple and straightforward.

How do facilities around the globe build MRI shielding systems strong enough to consistently hold all RF shielding in place, yet flexible enough to be completely modular? They simply assign the responsibility to NELCO. Our modular Galvanized Panel System is constructed of rigid panels laminated in galvanized steel. To assure an impenetrable RF seal, we join the panels in continuous “hat and flat” and “corner cove” configurations, then follow up with ground isolation and RF attenuation tests. NELCO also demonstrates strength in selection of site options and accessories for uncompromised customization.

NELCO’s RF and MRI shielding solutions are engineered to eliminate interference, optimize performance, and ensure secure, reliable environments for medical, industrial, and research applications alike.

The challenge of complete MRI shielding is that it must serve two opposing purposes: In addition to blocking out distorting radio frequencies, it must also contain the 5-gauss magnetic field within the controlled area. NELCO Magnetic Shielding keeps the magnetic field generated by the MRI from expanding into adjacent areas such as patient waiting rooms, spaces used for other modalities, and service areas used by staff. Because each site is unique, and the type of magnet varies, NELCO works closely with clients and MRI manufacturers to confidently address every specific need.
MRI windows must serve a dual purpose: Block out distorting radio frequencies, and contain the 5-gauss magnetic field within the controlled area. NELCO windows keep the magnetic field generated by the MRI from expanding into adjacent areas such as patient waiting rooms, spaces used for other modalities, and service areas used by staff. Because each site is unique, and the type of magnet varies, NELCO works closely with clients and MRI manufacturers to confidently address every specific need.
NELCO offers a full complement of MRI parts and accessories, including:
All components are manufactured to meet or exceed the shielding specifications of all MRI equipment manufacturers.
