Lead-lined Door Systems

NELCO Lead Lined Doors are an attractive way of shielding X-Ray, PET/CT, or nuclear medicine rooms. Several options are offered (wood type, grade, window options, and cuts) to ensure your shielded door will blend with any room’s décor. Three types are available:

  • Lead-lined, fire-resistant, 20-minute label wood
  • Lead-lined, non-rated, solid core wood
  • Lead-lined hollow metal

Doors come in a variety of shielding thicknesses, with lead from 1/16” to ¼”, so they can be used for a variety of modalities,

  • Shielding rooms with x-rays, gamma rays, and PET/CT
  • Shielding HDR enclosures (see HDR Enclosures section for additional detail)
  • Industrial and acoustical

Dimensions

Lead-lined, fire-resistant, 20-minute label wood doors

  • Thickness: 1 ¾”
  • Lead core extends from the door center out to the outer edges, surrounded by particle board with a density of 42 pounds per cubic foot
  • Stiles are laminated strand lumber or hardwood mill option, minimum of 2 ¾” inches after trimming, with outer ply matching face veneer, or visually compatible hardwood species

Lead-lined, non-rated, solid core wood doors

  • Thickness: 1 ¾”
  • Lead core extends from the door center out to the outer edges, surrounded by particle board with a density of 33 pounds per cubic foot
  • Stiles are laminated strand lumber or hardwood mill option, minimum of 2-1/8 inches after trimming, with outer ply matching face veneer, or visually compatible hardwood species

Lead-lined hollow metal doors

  • Thickness: 1 ¾” (custom sizing available up to 60” wide and 144” tall)
  • Door skins available in 14, 16, or 18-gauge
  • Core: 22-gauge stiffeners
