NELCO EXPANDS TO UK OFFICE, BRINGING YEARS OF SHIELDING EXPERIENCE
LONDON – NELCO, the worldwide leader in designing, manufacturing, and installing specialized products and services for the medical, industrial, and construction fields, has opened their first European office in the UK during the summer of 2009. The office is located at Buckingham Gate in Gatwick, and will service the medical radiation therapy and medical diagnostic imaging industries, as well as offering design and construction services. A recent need in the market swayed the company’s decision to open a UK office. This move will allow NELCO to better serve the area through offering regional materials and local representatives.
The leader of the UK office is Keith Larkin, who has over 30 years experience in the oncology field. Larkin, who has his BS(c) in Physics and HNC in Mechanical Engineering, has previously worked in directing positions with Philips, Elekta, and Accuray.

The vaults are created from channel-locked concrete blocks, which are then dry-stacked, allowing for future removal. The MegaShield system, which has been used in several US facilities, has proven to be time saving, as well as effective – because the blocks come cured, there is no waiting around for drying time, reducing the schedule significantly.
